‘B Company’ (6 Officers, 200 other ranks) under Major Robert Hogarth Milvain, and the Machine Gun section (27 other ranks) under Lieutenant H.F Williams entered 1st Hants trenches. They were also accompanied by the Commanding Officer Colonel William Annesley Burton Dennys, and the Adjutant Captain Desmond Coke.

‘D Company’ (6 Officers, 205 other ranks), under Captain James Blakey Dryden went into 1st Rifle Brigades trenches, again for instructional purposes.
