Author and historian Lina Moffitt would like to draw your attention to her forthcoming book, Kitchener’s 100, which will be published in early 2015.

The book contains stories about 100 Australian doctors that served with the R.A.M.C during the First World War. Some of whom, as shown below, were attached to the Loyal North Lancashire’s.

Major Brian William WIBBERLEY (1891-1973) MC, MB BS BSc Hons (Adel) 1914
(1915-1919) France, Belgium, Germany RAMC 56th Field Ambulance, 7th Battalion Loyal North Lancashire Regiment

Captain Charles Owen Gregory DONOVAN (1889-1966) DSO, MB ChM (Syd) 1915
(1915-1919) Western Front, German East Africa RAMC 10th Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, F Coy.

Mentioned in Despatches twice and awarded the Distinguished Service Order:

He displayed courage of a very high order over a period of forty-eight hours in attending to a large number of wounded of his own and other units in a shallow muddy trench which was continually subjected to heavy fire. On another occasion he dressed several wounded officers in the open. He was severely wounded.

Major William Eric GIBLIN (1884-1954) MC, MB (Syd) 1908, ChM (Syd) 1915
(1915-1919) France, Belgium RAMC 50th (Northumbrian) Division, 1/5 Loyal Norths

Mentioned in Despatches and awarded the Military Cross for service at Guillemont.
For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in action, he tended the wounded in ‘No Man’s Land’ under heavy shell and machine gun fire, and showed an utter contempt of danger.
