  1. Sara Brent says:

My Great Great Uncle, Corporal 13158, Vincent Poulton, of “D” Coy, 1st Battalion of The Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, died on 18th August 1916, and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial. It appears from this article that he may well have been killed during the assault at High Wood, as it states that D Coy of 1st Battalion where involved in this. Is there any way of confirming this?

  2. Ken Lees says:

My Great, Great uncle Pte. 10818 George Kelsall, from Preston, was wounded on this day. He was evacuated, recovered and re-joined his battalion only to be killed in action on 7th March, 1917. He is buried at Assevillers.
