  1. Sue Carter says:

    Hi Paul
Do you know if the War Diary for the 11th Battalion is available? Or still exists?

    Thanks
    Sue 🙂

    • Hi Sue, the 11th were a reserve battalion and stayed in the UK so no diary. The men would be posted in and out of the 11th to service battalions etc. Regards Paul

  2. Ian Mackenzie says:

Robert Henry Satterthwaite was with 7th Battalion in France.Sorry if there is confusion.

  3. Ian Mackenzie says:

Just found out in may have been 2nd battalion (it was when he was in South Africa)

  4. Ian Mackenzie says:

Robert Henry Satterthwaite, born 1881 at Barrow-in-Furness, 2nd Battalion The Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, service number 5525 was my wife’s grandfather. He served with the colours in South Africa (2nd Battalion) and enlisted from the Reserve in 1914, with the 7th Battalion, promoted to Sergeant and sent to France. On 5/8/1915 he was ‘severely reprimanded’ (in the field) and was sent back to England where he was discharged. We would appreciate help with the reason why he received ths punishment.
    Thanks.
    Ian Mackenzie

PS I have previously corresponded similar details which have been corrected
